Dafnis and Chloe" is a mythical and idyllic story set in the long pasture of Lesvos Island in the Aegean Sea. " The colorful and fantastic world is expressed by Chagall, who was called the "Magician of Color".
Chagart interviewed two parts of Greece, produced a draft of guache, and then worked on printmaking. He has drawn 42 works using the brilliant colors of the color lithographs he learned at Fernand Murlo's printmaking workshop. As an exception, more than 20 colors were used for this work as a lithograph, and it took more than 4 years to complete.
